The AIHS Queensland Branch would like to invite all AIHS members to the Brisbane networking event to be held on Thursday 25 July 2024 from 4.00 pm to 5.30pm.

- WHS legislation update, recent and impending changes to the WHS Act.

Mason Fettell,  Special Counsel , Employment, Safety and Regulatory - DWF

DWF Special Counsel Mason Fettell has ten years' experience advising on WHS, regulatory and employment matters. He advises on all aspects of employment, safety and industrial relations law, including defending WHS prosecutions, advising clients following critical workplace incidents, defending litigated employment and IR disputes, advising on and undertaking workplace investigations, drafting and varying enterprise agreements, and reviewing and drafting policies, procedures and contracts.  Mason has particular expertise in challenging notices issued by health and safety regulators and advising clients on union right of entry issues. 

Matthew Giles, Special Counsel , Employment, Safety and Regulatory - DWF

Matthew Giles is a Special Counsel in DWF’s Employment, Safety and Regulatory team. He advises on all aspects of safety, regulatory and employment law across a range of industries. His experience includes incident response and management, officer liability, notices to produce, notice reviews, coronial inquests and defence of prosecutions by health and safety regulators. Matthew regularly attends worksites following incidents and fatalities to assist with collation of documentation, interviews of key witnesses, management of and liaison with safety inspectors, and to advise clients on management of staff following an incident. Matthew also advises on employment issues, including workplace investigations, management of ill and injured employees, disciplinary processes, termination of employees, defending employment and industrial disputes, enterprise bargaining, underpayment of wages, employment contracts, policies and procedures, and right of entry powers.
