Australian Workplace Health and Safety Awards 2026

Award Criteria




The Australian Workplace Health & Safety Awards celebrate excellence and innovation in workplace health and safety and recognise individuals, teams and organisations that are leading the way in improving WHS outcomes across Australia. These awards honour outstanding achievements that contribute to safer, healthier and more productive workplaces.

Harold Greenwood Thomas Lifetime Achievement

Award Criteria




The Harold Greenwood Thomas Lifetime Achievement Award is the most prestigious award presented by the Australian Institute of Health & Safety and may be presented to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding contributions to the field of WHS throughout the course of their career, which has had significant impact on WHS outcomes in Australia.

Life Membership 



This award is one of the highest AIHS awards that can be bestowed on a member of the Institute. It is a National Award and is awarded to a member who has at least fifteen years of continuous service with the Institute and has given a minimum of ten years of outstanding service. Winners of this award have generally shown outstanding dedication to AIHS' various activities, policy work and various leadership groups. Individuals are not permitted to self-nominate.
