Certification Assessments

Practitioner Pre-Assessment

The Practitioner Pre-Assessment provides a pathway to OHS Certified Practitioner. Candidates complete four industry-based scenarios, each followed by a 25-question quiz assessing applied knowledge across key WHS practice areas. To be successful, candidates must achieve a score of 80% or higher (80 out of 100 questions). Successful completion demonstrates the foundational knowledge required for certification and eligibility to progress to the capability assessment stage.

Professional Pre-Assessment

The Professional Pre-Assessment is for candidates without an accredited OHS degree but with substantial professional-level OHS experience. It tests your ability to apply professional judgement, conduct holistic risk assessments, investigate incidents, and reference legislation and standards. Based on a realistic workplace case study, this assessment ensures you can demonstrate the core skills expected of a Certified OHS Professional. Eligible candidates are required to complete the pre-assessment and DCA to achieve OHS Certified Professional.

Demonstrated Capability Assessment (DCA)

The DCA is a comprehensive evaluation of your applied skills against the OHS Global Capability Framework. Using workplace-based examples and the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result), candidates show how they communicate, solve problems, manage risks, lead projects, and demonstrate ethical and professional practice. Each skill is graded across four proficiency levels: Awareness, Routine Application, Skill Application, and Creative Mastery. Referee verification is also required to confirm workplace performance. This assessment is required for OHS Certified Practitioner and OHS Certified Professional applications.

Professional Reflective Practice (PRP)

The Professional Reflective Practice is required for Chartered OHS Professional certification. It involves documenting and reflecting on your OHS practice over time, considering your career journey, professional capabilities, and responses to significant events. Candidates critically analyse their decision-making, problem-solving, and professional growth to show they are operating at AQF Level 9. This process not only evidences competence but also deepens personal understanding of professional practice.
