Course Overview:

When a workplace incident occurs, the quality of the investigation can have significant legal, operational, and safety implications. Organisations need investigations that not only identify what happened, but also withstand scrutiny from regulators, courts, workers, and other stakeholders.

This practical one-day programme equips you with the knowledge, skills, and frameworks required to conduct effective workplace health and safety (WHS) investigations that are legally defensible and focused on meaningful outcomes.

Delivered by Risk Training Professionals (RTP) in partnership with specialist WHS legal practitioners from Mills Oakley, this course will give you the knowledge and skills to conduct workplace investigations that are legally defensible, regulator-ready, and focused on meaningful safety outcomes. You will explore how to plan and manage investigations, gather and preserve evidence, conduct effective interviews, analyse causes, and prepare investigation reports that support informed decision-making and continual improvement.

Throughout the day, you will work through realistic investigation scenarios and case studies, with ample opportunity for discussion, questions, and application of concepts to your own workplace environment.

We recommend completing the Principles of Investigation eLearning course before undertaking this training, although it is not a prerequisite.
