PRESENTATION: Audiometric Testing under the NSW Work Health and Safety (WHS) Regulation.
 
The topics that will be discussed are;
·       Commencement of Clause 58 – Audiometric Testing under the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Regulation 2017 from 1 January 2024. 
·       Actions for employers.
·       Prior to considering hearing tests, employers must first identify and assess noise sources at the workplace as this will determine the level of risk to noise induced hearing loss and compliance under the WHS Regulation 2017.
·       For work places where clause 58 applies, existing workers employed before 01 Jan 2024 must undertake a hearing test prior to 01 Jan 2026.
·       Contractors and how this change affects their management.
 
PRESENTER: Martin Calnin, Assistant State Inspector with SafeWork NSW’s Health and Safe Design Directorate. Martin has been with SafeWork NSW for 6 years. During his time with SafeWork NSW Martin has worked in the Hygiene and Toxicology Team, Metro South and now is with the Specialist Services team in the Health and Safe Design Directorate. Prior to joining SafeWork NSW Martin worked in the Health and Hygiene field in Oil and Gas, the Steel Industry and the Department of Defence.
