$1.01 million enforceable undertaking for Ausgrid Management
Ausgrid Management recently entered into an enforceable undertaking with a total expenditure of $1.01 million over an incident in which a worker received an electric shock.
On 29 January 2019, an overhead line worker received a non-fatal electric shock after making contact with energised low-voltage conductors.
At the time of the incident, the worker was in a mobile elevating work platform, relocating the conductors as part of a pole changeover in Sydney.
As part of the undertaking, activities Ausgrid Management will undertake include:
- A ‘Fit for Life’ employee wellbeing program
- Remunerating mental health first aiders
- A live work implementation workplace audit, and
- Electrical safety videos promoting working safely around overhead powerlines.
The regulator said the strategies proposed in the undertaking have been assessed as likely to deliver long-term sustainable safety improvements in the workplace, industry and community.
