The Psych Health and Safety Conference (PHSCON)

The Psych Health and Safety Conference (PHSCON) is the ultimate gathering for health and safety professionals dedicated to preventing work-related mental ill-health through a systems-based lens. It is more than just a conference, it’s a place for connecting, learning, and evolving together. Four themes have been curated for PHSCON 2025 based on their growing significance in research, practice and regulatory activity:

Evidence Based Practice
Australian regulations require organisations to adopt an evidence-based approach to reduce psychosocial risks to workers. This involves HR and HSE professional to think like scientists to understand the root cause of issues, select the most appropriate interventions, and review and monitor effectiveness. Adam Grant and Professor Rob Briner will bring their collective wisdom to this topic.

Leading Mentally Healthy Workplaces
Board members, senior executives, and managers play a vital role in creating workplace cultures that support mental health. PHSCON will provide guidance from international experts on effective governance and leadership behaviours to build and maintain effective systems of work for psychologically healthy and safe workplaces.

International Perspectives
Delegates will hear from pioneers of standards from the UK and Canada and explore the future with ISO 45003, the first global standard for psychosocial safety. While Australia has WHS and Human Rights legislation that is driving mass adoption of psychosocial safety, several international speakers will provide insights on what is working in their countries without regulator enforcement.

Inclusive Work Design
A diverse workforce brings significant benefits, including innovation, enhanced decision-making, and stronger problem-solving. By applying equitable work design/re-design strategies, inclusive organisations create a safe environment that accommodates the needs of all needs and benefiting from diverse insights.

The best way to participate in PHSCON no doubt is to attend the 2 days in-person. But if you can’t do 2 days, why not attend for one? If you can’t make it to Sydney at all for the event, grab a virtual ticket where you’ll also be able to network with fellow participants, put in your questions to presenters, and have 6-months post event access to all videos.
Don’t forget there’s also 4x pre-conference masterclasses on 17 and 18 June at UTS Business School – valued at just $400 each, it’s practical hands-on learning from some of the conference’s expert presenters. Finally take your networking to the next level at the VIP dinner at the W Sydney on the evening of 19 June and experience entertainment from the always funny Merrick Watts.
