Hein Havemann is a Chartered Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality (HSEQ) professional with over 20 years of international experience across Africa, the Middle East, New Zealand, Australia, and the United States. His career spans oil & gas, construction, local government, and defence sectors, where he has led transformative safety initiatives and built high-performing teams. Currently serving as Senior HSEQ Manager at Babcock Australia and New Zealand, Hein oversees safety strategies for naval and commercial marine operations. His contributions have been recognised with awards such as the Navy Safety Excellence Award and Auckland Council’s Most Valuable HSW Practitioner. Hein previously held the role of Auckland Branch Manager for the New Zealand Institute of Safety Management (NZISM), where he helped strengthen the professional safety community. Known for his strategic leadership, practical approach, and cross-cultural experience, Hein is a trusted voice in the industry across the Tasman and globally. He holds Chartered Membership with AIHS, NZISM, a Master of Science in Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental Risk Management from the University of Hull—assessed as equivalent to an Australian Master’s qualification—and multiple NEBOSH certifications. Hein remains actively engaged in advancing the profession through his involvement with AIHS and NZISM.
