Mitchell is a seasoned Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) professional with experience across high-risk industries including energy, construction, and engineering consultancy. With a practical and evidence-based approach to safety, Mitchell specialises in the prevention of Serious Injuries and Fatalities (SIF), risk-critical decision-making, and the integration of Energy-Based Safety (EBS) principles. He brings to the AIHS a strong foundation in regulatory compliance, contractor management, and safety system design, complemented by a passion for influencing organisational culture and improving worker engagement in safety practices.
Mitchell’s interests lie in the evolution of safety indicators and performance, critical control management, and the application of human and organisational performance (HOP) principles to reduce harm. His experience in both operational and strategic HSE roles enables him to contribute meaningfully to advancing the profession and supporting the Institute’s mission.
