Committee Member
Karen has been a member of the AIHS since 2005, and now is a part of the SA Branch committee, working to support great outcomes for the state.
Karen initially completed safety studies via the TAFE system, and then completed the joint post Graduate Diploma program which was run between Adelaide and the University of SA. She has also done some studies at RMIT and the University of Melbourne.
Karen is currently working as a WHS Director within the Science and Technology area of Defence, and was fortunate to have served in uniform for 10 years within RAAF. She has also worked within Defence Industries and Telstra, all supporting various safety roles over 30 years. She has been a HSR, Site Safety Manager, Emergency Lead and now a Director.
Karen is committed to volunteering and see being part of the committee as a great opportunity to provide something back to an amazing profession that has provided her with so many opportunities. She brings a commitment to the team and a positive approach to the committee, along with knowledge of working in the Commonwealth arena. She continues to love working in safety where you never stop learning. It allows you to support others, and helps to prevent harm, all of which align with her values.
